Get to experience Wellington Zoo for only a gold coin donation! (normally costs $21 to enter)
What we'll be doing
We'll be around walking the grounds of the zoo peeking into the enclosures of the endangered exotic animal species plus NZ’s own special creatures, and talking with the rangers about the animals.
This walk around the inside of the zoo precedes the evening walk and therefore is intended to compliment it. You can join us for both walks or just to browse the enclosures! Wellington Zoo is New Zealand's first Zoo, having been established in 1906.
3/10 – walking for 2 -3 hours with some short moderate climbs and some less formed tracks so a reasonable level of fitness is required. Parts of the track can be slippery when very wet, so good footwear is essential.
What to bring
Footwear with good grip, waterproof outer layer, something to drink and snacks.
Meet at 2:30pm, under the tree at bus turnaround area. We’ll walk around the zoo for approximately 2hrs including short breaks. It will be busy on the day so getting there earlier means less queueing.
How to get there
The zoo is at 200 Daniell Street, Newtown, Wellington. Newtown is in the South of Wellington.
It’s hard to find a car park on busy days so we encourage you to catch the bus or park a little further away and walk up to the Zoo.
