Hiking Rock Creek Park: Dupont Circle to Silver Spring

Enjoy the fall colors of Rock Creek Park as we hike about 9.5 miles from Dupont Circle to Silver Spring, MD on Sunday November 16.
Starting at noon from the northern exit of the Dupont Circle Metro Station @ 20th & Q Streets NW, we'll first head due west to find the Rock Creek Park Trail just off of the P Street Bridge. We will then proceed northward past the Zoo to Peirce Mill, where bathrooms/water will be available. We will then continue northbound on the Valley Trail to West Beach Drive in DC’s North Portal Estates Neighborhood, where we leave the Park via North Portal Drive. At 16th Street we will walk into Montgomery County MD and take Colesville Road to Wayne Avenue, next to the Silver Spring Transit Center. Our trek should end around 4 p.m. with beers/pub food at the Silver Branch Lagerhaus & Biergarten at 8401 Georgia Avenue, at the corner of GA and Wayne Avenues.
Difficulty: very moderate elevation gain (1 to 2%) incline on paved & dirt trail surfaces.
Bring beverages, snacks, and mud-worthy footgear. Dress in layers. This is a free event; the trip leader will pay the $5 Adventuring trip fee for all participants.
