Meet in the lobby of the Block Museum of Art at 11:30. At 12:00, join us for a 45-minute, free guided tour (in English) of "Caravans of Gold, Fragments of Time" (https://www.blockmuseum.northwestern.edu/exhibitions/2019/caravans-of-gold,-fragments-in-time-art,-culture,-and-exchange-across-medieval-saharan-africa.html).

Discover what was happening in Saharan Africa during Europe’s Middle Ages. Travel along routes crossing the Sahara Desert to a time when West African gold fueled expansive trade and drove the movement of people, culture and religious beliefs.

Join us for post-tour snacks at a nearby coffee shop.

Parking in the two-level lot nearest the museum is not open to the public until after 4:00. You may be ticketed if you park there before 4:00. Visitors may pay for parking in the Segal Visitors Center, 1841 Sheridan Road, the first building on the right when you enter the “landfill” area from Sheridan Road at the curve.
