She has published five novels, all of which have received substantial critical praise. In 2003, she was included on Granta's list of 20 best young authors, and was also included in the 2013 list. She joined New York University's Creative Writing Program as a tenured professor in September 2010.
Smith has won the Orange Prize for Fiction and the Anisfield-Wolf Book Award in 2006 and her novel White Teeth was included in Time magazine's list of 100 Best English-language Novels from 1923 to 2005.
Now she has a new book - SWING TIME - the story of two mixed race, black and white, girls who meet in 1982 in a tap class in London.
(From WORD) "Our basement events space has a capacity of ~90, so for those lucky early arrivers, it's going to be an intimate event with the great Zadie. If there is no room left on in the basement events space, we will be allowing a limited number of attendees to listen to the event over our PA system on the main sales floor of the store. And of course, Zadie will be signing all the books whether you're front row and center or not! We can't express just how psyched we are to be one of the many NYC-area stops on the Swing Time tour, which will give all of us Zadie fans myriad opportunities to see her in person over the next couple months. Hope to see you at our event! (Come early!)"
