Airplane Game Simulation - The Value of Flow

Flow is a very Lean idea. The first two Lean principles are “Specify Value” and “Make Value Flow”. Most agile methods have the concept of flow baked in. A key lever to promote flow is limiting work in progress, something many organizations find very challenging.

This talk and demonstration will help you “see” how to make value flows in an agile software development project and why it is important.

Dean's Bio:

Dean is an enterprise agile coach with LeadingAgile. His focus is on developing and managing agile requirements to delivering effective business solutions.

Prior to joining LeadingAgile, he was a business consultant for Synaptus where he helped organizations identify and deliver value. He applied Lean and Agile principles learned from 20 years of industry experience:

* to streamline business processes
* generate Agile requirements (specify value)
* then manage the Agile requirements (make value flow).

Dean began his career as an engineer then as a business manager where he led numerous projects to improve performance. He earned his BS in Chemical Engineering from Clemson University and his MBA from Georgia State’s Executive MBA program. He really enjoys helping people and teams learn and achieve high performance.

    Excellent presentation demonstrating cause-effect of applying agile methods and experience turbo-charge value flow, optimize the whole-system performance by thinking holistically instead of sub-optimizing parts.

    Great presentation by Dean. And the simulation was a simple yet eloquent (and fun) way of demonstrating the point. Very well done. Thanks!
