I think that we're using two different definitions of "materialistic." ��I am defining it as a relationship between matter and thought (and, by extention, actions). ��Is that what you're talking about?

As for prisons, it is a unit for containment, granted. ��However, I'd think that the resulting rights and restrictions that prisoners have are the product of a kind of compromise (one of the compromises that no one is really happy about) between the rehabilitative/punishment theories of how a prison is to work.
