Plus two awesome presenters for the March Meetup (Alex St John, ex-Microsoft DirectX and Ryan Anderson, Gameloft's Lead Engine Programmer).
Plus improved refreshments sponsored by AUT CoLab

After 5 years being held at Media Design School the NZGDA have decided it's time for a change and a bigger space. We're moving a few blocks to AUT University. We want to see the Meetups keep growing, even broaden a little bit, and every now and then do something unexpected. We aren't leaving Media Design School behind as they are going to stay involved and MDS students (along with those from AUT, Auckland Uni, Yoobee, Unitec, Animation School, Lifeway, Waikato Uni) are more than welcome. Remember, the Meetups are for everyone who loves making games: professional game studios, indies, artists, animators and students.

The new venue is:
Room WG126
Sir Paul Reeves Building (where the NZGDC conference was last year)
Governor Fitzroy Place
AUT University

Come in any door and follow the signs.

Modelling Virality. Alex St John, co-creator DirectX, former Microsoft GM Entertainment.
It's easy to say "My game is soo GREAT it will go viral." But is there a recipe for “virality” that maximizes a games chances of wild success? Alex St John will draw on his time running Wild Tangent (the world's largest gaming site at the time) and and studying epidemiology to uncover the hidden secrets of designing games for maximum virality.

Engine Considerations for Rapid Game Iteration, Ryan Anderson, Gameloft NZ's Lead Engine Programmer
Although game engines will always need to guarantee performance, allowing artists and designers to quickly iterate on game play and assets is vital to making a game. A successful engine must support the needs of the users from its inception in order to avoid unnecessary complexity or bloated code as it matures. 7.00 Noticeboard and Showcase
If you have anything you'd like to show contact Ben Kenobi ([masked]) and he'll sort out equipment - like big screens, projectors, tables.
