Hi all! I'm one of the new organizers here, and one of the things I LOVE to do is get out with my camera, a short random list of 'to-dos' and see what I come up with.
So I've come up with a fun idea that will get us all out and shooting and social, but also allow for some real collaborative education.
Here's how it works:
We will meet at a designated area to be determined, and team up into groups of two or three depending on attendance. Then we'll hit the streets in teams with a short list of things to find and snap. Examples being: Triangle, Duo, Love, etc. Really broad things that will bring out the creative thought in us all.
Then we will re-meet, chat a bit, and head home. We will then all upload one image each under each item that we were to find, with the caption:
"_________" (associated word.)
1) I think the strongest element of this photo is:
2) I think the most distracting element of this photo is:
so that all can easily copy and paste, and leave their remarks on EACH image. This allows us all to learn how others see and interpret our art, which in time strengthens our creative voice and learn to hear our audience.
****UPDATE DEC 4, 2012*******
I thought Gadsby's was a great place to meet outside and have our quick pair-up and move out meeting!
We will draw from a bag- both to meet our matches (unless you came with a special friend- I won't be mean and split you up!) and also draw our 5 words for the Hunt!
You'll be free to traverse the city wherever you like for 2.5 hours. (I added that extra half hour just for traffic and sunset golden hour!)
Then we'll meet here:
400 8th Street Northwest
Washington, DC 20004
Lexington Market Square
(closest stop: Archives) (also in the middle of stops: Metro Center, Chinatown, Judiciary, Federal Triangle)
Why a different end spot? Because I want you to stretch those creative legs! (or wheels, if you are a driver!)
