Come join us on November 15th for the Global Day of Coderetreat in Honolulu :)

This event is language agnostic (not just ruby!) and intended for intermediate to advanced developers of any language looking to improve their level of software development & design.

Global Day of Coderetreat is a world-wide event celebrating passion and software craftsmanship. Last year, on December 14th, 2013, over 5000 developers in 170 cities through 20 time zones dedicated the day to practicing their craft during the Global Day of Coderetreat 2013. You can find out more information about the day on the 2013 global day announcement. http://coderetreat.org/profiles/blogs/announcing-global-day-of-coderetreat-2014

Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement. Practicing the basic principles of modular and object-oriented design, developers can improve their ability to write code that minimizes the cost of change over time.

For an in-depth understanding of the philosophy behind a day of coderetreat, please watch the introduction in this video http://coderetreat.org/about and check out his book on the subject Understanding the Four Rules of Simple Design (https://leanpub.com/4rulesofsimpledesign)

Our venue sponsor this year is HICapacity (http://hicapacity.org), at the Manoa Innovation Center which would not be possible without help from the good folks at HTDC (http://www.htdc.org)

Lunch will be provided by local software company Real Geeks (http://www.realgeeks.com)

Pastries and Coffee in the morning will be provided by Hawaii Open Data/Code for Hawaii
