Northern Virginia Volunteer Coordinator
League of Conservation Voters
RSVP: Let me know if you’re a yes, a maybe, or if you have any questions I can answer.

I’m the new volunteer coordinator for the League of Conservation Voters in Northern Virginia. For the next two months, my job is to connect you with all the efforts in Northern Virginia to get out the vote for President Obama and be a resource for any questions you may have about the best ways to make a difference this election.
To get started, we’re hosting a Virginia Environmentalists for Obama kickoff event this Saturday, September 22 at 1 p.m. We’ll meet up for a rally with an inspiring speech from the Chairman of President Obama’s Energy and Environment Team, Ken Berlin. Then you’ll have the opportunity to hit the pavement with other LCV members and Organizing for America volunteers in a two hour canvass that will be the first of many we’ll do to get out the vote this fall.
If you think you can make it, send me an email or just hit reply to send me an email, so I can be sure to look out for you at the event.

Having LCV members like you, who come across the river to volunteer for Obama in Virginia, is absolutely critical to winning the election. When you knock on doors and make phone calls, you can deliver an even more powerful message because, as a neighbor and an environmentalist, you can testify about how the choices we make in this national election will affect the air we breathe and the water we drink right here in the DC area. So, thank you in advance for any time you can commit to volunteering.
I can’t wait to meet you on September 22 and launch our campaign to win this year!
Thanks, Zak

Washington, DC - National Plug in Day

The Electric Vehicle Association of Greater Washington, DC, and the Nation's Capital celebrate National Plug In Day right in front of the Capitol Building on 3rd Street.
There will be many of the following vehicles there; Nissan Leafs, Chevy Volts, Th!nk Cities, Smart EDs, Mitsubishi "i"s, Tesla Roadsters and Model Ss, RAV4 EVs, Fisker Karmas, three wheeler vehicles, electric motorcycles, e-bikes, conversions, solar paneled vehicles and more. Come and spend the day with us while learning from vehicle owners and dealers what it is like to incorporate a plug-in vehicle into your driving routine. Find out about charging at home and away from home at charging stations. See how plug-in vehicles save you money and connect to renewable energy sources such as solar and wind to become truly zero emission vehicles.
For those who come to this event there will be the opportunity to ride and test drive many of these vehicles on display. Imagine, you will get to experience firsthand the quiet, smooth acceleration and power of electric drive. There will be music, games, juggling and more. The celebration will be held on 3rd Street NW between Pennsylvania Avenue NW and Maryland Avenue SW in front of the Capitol Building on the east side of the National Mall from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be a press conference at 2 pm.
