This is really a group for anyone with thoughts on anything fringe that they would usually not talk about with any 'mundane'. This is an opportunity to meet and trade thoughts with others traveling this road less taken. Goddess worship, Gnosticism, Tarot, Ghost activity, Communication with the dead, conspiracy theories, paranormal experiences, unique approaches to ritual or ceremonial magic, energy healing, witches, psychic phenomena, ufos, aliens, nature spirits, self empowerment, consciousness, synchronicity, Lucifer, spiritual, theistic, atheistic, or Levayan satanism, cherry picking from religions to create something new, love towards all and anything else fringe. Dont feel unwelcome if you lean towards the right hand path, as i believe its possible to utilize both in practice. Just know that some topics may offend you. I started this group out of a frustration at not finding anything nearby harvard that open to anything other than your cookie cut out meditation, light worker, energy healing, we want your money groups. So im gonna give this a try. Good luck and Godspeed to all. Hopefully we can create something a little different with this.
I believe that the occult is a natural part of everyday life for everybody, and while most of the time we make decisions on what is plain to see. We often use more mysterious, magical, intuitive, psychic, and unseen perceptions or suggestions based on our personal thoughts and experiences. Ever get a feeling that you can read something about a person just by looking into their eyes, or ever have a sentimental object that really means something to you, or rather a symbol that you don't just enjoy you actively rep it. These thoughts and feelings are alive in you, you can feel their presence near and within you. In many ways your mind has just created a new part of your own reality. Maybe you don't know exactly why you feel the way you do, but you listen. Because for whatever reason you trust in your decision making. Even without critical evidence or logic. Most of the time we keep these things to ourselves, and only express these feelings to ourselves and maybe our art.
Then their are those schools of thought, or beliefs that people naturally don't boast due to fear of being isolated and disregarded as evil, or corrupting of others. Lots of artists have placed these underlying currents or spiritual 'truths' in their art, and these are all hidden or occult in nature. I also hold a very loose term of the word art. Our art is whatever we create with our feelings and subconscious thoughts.
These things are UNSEEN/OCCULT by their very nature and most of the time we 'FEEL' these things rather than outright noticing it. Almost like an ethereal force of nature that connects us all. With its own intelligence and ability to react. We all experience this at some point in our lives, our gods, goddesses, spirits, lost loved ones. We see them in beautiful sunrises, we hear them in our thoughts, we feel their love sustaining us, and we know they aren't gone or meaningless. This is where it becomes very esoteric. And where i start to call myself a practitioner of the occult, while recognizing its esoteric nature.
I believe pagan, or native religions knew these spiritual 'truths', and that when simplified down it becomes about self empowerment, and by extension the empowerment of others. The ability to control your own life or at least feel like your in control. This is the name of the game in my eyes.
Now to an atheistic scientist everything Ive said here would be nothing more than chemical reactions in our brains, with no rhyme or reason. Just endless probability distributions firing off faster than you could ever imagine, but their starting to dig their own pretentious graves. We've seen particles react now with speed surpassing the speed of light. We still cant identify the strong force or gravity. Their is still a vast ocean of misunderstood and unknown knowledge. Not to mention the implications and possibilities surrounding quantum physics and ancient spiritual 'truths'.
This leads occultists like me to postulate that the world is constantly changing according to our understanding of it, and we've seen that change whether scientific or ethereal continue to grow together. Like the two strings of a double helix they seem to give life to something that transcends our personal struggles, but also intimately guides us. This group is primarily about the ethereal, even though the science is still just as important. Reconciling the gap between the two is what im really interested in.
Great mundane example i received along with a block. Oh well, this will serve as a good example of what im talking about anyway.
"It's a free country, but you give people false hope and lies for explanation of events that were likely based on abuse or some other kind of damage, psychic (the scientific variety) or otherwise. You do them a great disservice." -- Anonymous user
Its almost comical how threatened you are by these concepts. Why don't you try listening to others before you pass judgement. Your life might become a little more meaningfull in ways youde never imagine. Its sad how dogmatic those who would call themselves 'humanists' have really become. I just wish he didnt block me so i could point him towards the atheistic satanists. Your burning sense of injustice would do well there, you could still ridicule others for their 'magical' beliefs, and you can still be an atheist. Sounds great right?
P.S. If this group does tend to grow and attract a reasonably attentive and respectful crowd I have access to a few acres with a pond and a fire pit that would be a great place to meet. Thats a ways in the future though. Till then any recommendations on places to meet would be greatly appreciated.
