Re: [londroid] Has this app been done yet ? "An app to change your ringtone on SOMEONE ELSE'S phone...."

Out of interest; Who would actually use an app like this? I think it's probably worth looking at this aspect before putting in too much effort (unless it's just a brain stretching exercise :))

Personally I wouldn't want it on my phone because I like to assign the ringtones I want to people so I know who is ringing, allowing someone else to change their tones when they call me could get "interesting" when I'm on business.

Hi Richard,

Take a look at Vringo, who have been doing something similar to that, pushing video ringtones to the phones of your friends so that they get a personalized ring when you call them. I don't know how successful that's been, but they have been banging away at it for some years now.

Martyn

Chaps - before I plough more of my rare spare time into an app, can you scratch your respective heads and think if this has been done.

In a nutshell : An app to change your ringtone on SOMEONE ELSE'S phone....

ie it will allow me to change the ringtone on my friend's phone when I ring them to something I want it to play ( Rick Astley, 007 , mission impossible, whatever).

It's mainly aimed at the ringtone mad market... which is obviously pretty popular.

I've done a proof of concept on Android - works pretty well using c2dm and app engine (my fave poisons at the moment).

But before I get a nice design etc etc, I was just curious if you chaps had seen it done before.

Thanks,

Richard.
