Hi Robert,

I don't have any samples that I can release, but you can download the app at:

http://www.jandgsoftware.co.uk/Droidopia.apk

It will attempt to read the PDF files that you have in the downloads folder of the SD Card, and display them in a list.

If you make a PDF document with clickable links in it, you will be able to click on them on screen when it renders the PDF images that is produces from the pages of your PDF.
(once it has loaded each image once it will cache them on your SD card, so it doesnt have to parse the pdf page again)

You can export a pdf with hyperlinks in it from Powerpoint or Keynote ( depending on preference )

As I say its still a little rough and ready, for instance if you try to open a pdf email attachment it will crash currently.

If there are no links in the PDF's that it finds, it will go through the pages if you click the screen.

Again it is in development so dont expect too much, and if you find any issues please let me know.

Also let me know if you think its useful or not, or if you have any suggestions to make it better?

Thanks

Adrian.

Yeah I'd be interested to see it. I'll post mine when the templates are a bit better. It still looks a bit too rough.

Hi Robert.

I am in the process of building a tool that will render clickable PDF pages to images.

Its not finished yet but I could make an apk available for the group if its worth it?

Adrian.

Hello out there,

Just a quick message regarding Regarding the UX Testing meetup scheduled for tomorrow(Tue 29th).

We haven't really reached critical mass for the meetup, but that isn't necessarily a showstopper, as its really just a night to come and test out what we are working on and discussion about it. So if the people who indicated they would like to come and still can could let me know, so I don't just turn up there by myself ;)

The room is still booked - so don't be put off by the fact it isn't announced. Just let me know if you are able to make it and a decision can be made tomorrow as the venue is flexible.

On another note I just wanted to as what tools people use to test out designs, i.e. for making clickable wireframes or prototypes for testing interfaces. I guess something like HTML+phonegap is probably a good option.

The reason I ask, is because in the past couple of weeks I have been working on a mock-up framework  for testing out design as I have to upgrade an app that was released a while ago. The idea is that you can use a designer to make SVG files and then turn the SVGs into a prototype by making the elements clickable, so the tester can navigate around the prototype. It uses a framework I am getting ready to release open-source which is based around drawing and vector graphics (http://vectoroid.com) (website coming ...) there is a demo app on market (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=co.uk.sentinelweb.example.cards.explode).

But do let me know if you would like to come, or you have any ideas for the testing might tomorrow. Would be good to keep it going if possible.

best,
Rob Munro.
