About our presenter:
Geshe (Ph.d.) Thupten Phelgye is a Tibetan monk who vowed to never eat an animal again and dedicated his life to being an ambassador for animals, after personally witnessing the slaughter of animals for food. As the student of His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, Geshe meditated in a cave for five years, served the Tibetan Parliamant in Exile for two terms totaling ten years, and traveled to the U.S. to teach as a Professor at Gonzaga and Eastern Washington Universities. Hear him speak about his revelations on compassion for all beings as he spreads the Buddha’s teachings of compassion and non-harming.
Geshe shares his personal story of a journey to freedom through the Himalayan Mountains with his family to escape the invading Chinese army, service of his country in exile, spiritual path as a Tibetan Buddhist, and realization of compassion for all beings. He speaks English and his presentation will be interactive. Geshe is interviewed moderator Bob Isaacson of Dharma Voices for Animals and answers questions from the audience. Personally greet him after the presentation. He wants to meet as many people as possible. His teaching tour is sponsored by Dharma Voices for Animals.
