Announcing a new event for United Animal Advocates of LA!

What: Give Farm Animals Something to be Thankful For - Thanksgiving Promenade Outreach

When: Friday, November 23, 8:00 PM

Where: Click the link below to find out!

Event Description: Dear Friends of Farmed Animals:

The next opportunity to leaflet on the Santa Monica Promenade with simultaneous video projection going on is this Friday, Nov. 23rd from 8-10 pm. The outreach (leafletting and showing of "Meet Your Meat" and "Earthlings") will take place on the Third Street Promenade between Broadway and Santa Monica Blvd. Look for Aouie with his projector screen and AV equipment. If you have trouble finding the place, you can call Aouie on his cell phone at (213) 675-4266. If you are new to leafletting and/or apprehensive about it (which is common but the nervousness fades with practice), please email me for tips or look at the lealetting tips from previous posts. Remember this is a "Friendly Interactions Only" type of event, meaning everyone is expected to be friendly and respectful - including to occasional hecklers passing by. The people who do stop to watch the footage tend to be receptive, although due to the high people traffic, not everyone will take a pamphlet (so be prepared for that). This type of outreach is something anyone can do and has a tremendous positive impact for the animals by raising awareness.

Now that the campaign to get a ballot initiative to ban veal crates, gestation crates, and battery cages in California is in its second full month and we are lagging behind on the number of signatures needed to get the initiative on the November 2008 ballot, we are trying to step up our efforts even more. This Thanksgiving weekend, give farm animals something to be thankful for by taking advantage of this special opportunity for gathering signatures from the public to get the initiative on the November 2008 ballot during the outreach. We need more people to volunteer to help gather signatures!! If you've gotten your petitions and info packet, please come on out with your signs, blue or black pens, clipboards, and petitions in hand. The passersby on the Promenade are waiting to sign those petitions!!! For info on how to become involved with this effort, please see the previous email with info on upcoming kick-off rallies or visit

Please RSVP to show your involvement in the group. Thanks a bunch!!
