I have signed. As usual it is all about what humans want and there is no regard for what an animal needs or his/her right for being free from harm.

This is heartless and a fraud -- goats are quadrupeds having no anatomical likeness to humans.  This murderous butchering is outrageous and completely devoid of any scientific relevance or benefit to human beings, save for the raiding of the U S Treasury (our tax dollars) to create a meaningless job for ignorant, cruel Neanderthals.

Hi Sue,

Over 10,000 goats are mutilated and killed every year as part of the US Coast Guard’s medical trauma training, sometimes suffering dismemberment with tree trimmers.

Tell the Coast Guard that there has to be a more humane way to train medics. »

The Associated Press says several branches of the military use these methods on goats and pigs to train medics for battlefield casualties, even though some medical professionals say this cruelty is completely unnecessary because human simulation models work just as well.

Furthermore, says PETA, the practice violates DOD policy, as well as the Animal Welfare Act.
Though Bob Filner (D-CA) has introduced legislation to phase out this practice, AP says he's faced fierce opposition” from the DOD.
