[*Gentrification: changes that result when wealthier people ("gentry") acquire or rent property in low income and working class communities. Basically runs the lower socio-economic families out of the community]

When:
Saturday, May 19, 2012, 7:00pm

Where:
Chuco Justice Center
1137 E. Redondo Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90302

Why:
Benefit show for: Turning the Tide: Journal of Anti Racist Action, Research & Education
.

Details:
We've been invited to educate show-goers on the nightmare that is animal agribusiness - join me! These progressive bands draw an AMAZING crowd. They have eyes wide open, are passionate about social change - the best!

The show's at 7, but World Fest is the next day so I plan to leave by 10 to get as much beauty sleep as possible (I still need volunteers for WF too - email me directly if you can help! Nikki at VeganOutreach dot Org). If you can help me with this show, you're welcome to stay later! I'm sure it goes until midnight. Will let you know what I hear.

Speakers: American Indian Movement (Southern California Chapter) & Black Riders Liberation Party.
BANDS: Cause and Effect, Armistice, Cuauhtemoc, MASSAKRO (from TJ, Mexico), Aztlan Underground and Resist & Exist.

Flier: http://diyzine.com/

Thanks!

Why vegan?

Cruelty: 10 billion land animals raised for food every year in egregious conditions

Environment: animal agriculture contributes more to climate change than transportation

World hunger: 70% of all US grains feed livestock

Health: plant based diets have limitless benefits

Delicious Creativity: Trying new veg foods is an endless adventure - at home or on the town
