We saw something similar in Tanzania - A large leader of an elephant group circled theextended family, looking intently at our jeep stopped on the road, then gathered the little ones into the middle, and led the whole herd across the road.  Amazing. 
Humans should be treasuring and protecting them everywhere.

Watch to the end. These Dutch tourists certainly lucked out when they came upon this!
Watch how one of the mothers first blocks the road for the herd safety, and meanwhile one of the young ones of the herd is guarding the front for the rest to enjoy the mud bath. Now that is teamwork at
