United Animal Advocates of LA Message Board › Forks Over Knives Screening Event in Palos Verdes
Los Angeles, CA
I am writing on behalf of the Los Angeles office of the nonprofit organization Compassion Over Killing (COK), to invite you to a high-profile fundraising event on August 27th. .
This Palos Verdes event is being held to support healthy school lunches for kids through our Meatless Monday campaign, a nation wide initiative calling citizens and schools to increase their fresh fruits and vegetables by going meatless on Mondays. At the event there will be a screening of Forks Over Knives, a documentary which focuses on the extraordinary benefits of plant based foods. Forks Over Knives has received an overwhelming amount of press, including being named a New York Times Best Seller for its companion book for the 2nd straight week-climbing to #10 of the paperback advice/how to books! This documentary appeared on CNN last March and will also air a one-hour special on heart disease called "The Last Heart Attack" , featuring the work of Forks Over Knives' expert Dr. Caldwell Esselstyn and an interview with former president Bill Clinton on August 21. Attendees will also enjoy 4 course meal(featuring an LA celebrity chef), a live auction, speakers, and a chance to mingle with the executive director of the documentary. We are excited to have various local councilmen and media attending and are encouraging the support of all Los Angeles vegans and supporters of Meatless Mondays, to attend. The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

Poor animals! How jealously they guard their pathetic bodies…that which to us is merely an evening’s meal, but to them is life itself.
