Street Collection for Second Chance Animal Rescue

Hi Everyone,
You might remember that when Second Chance Animal Rescue sanctuary, (SCAR), in Swanley, Kent was broken into last year, some animals were killed and dogs were stolen! Since then, John Ranger, who runs SCAR, has improved security and now stays overnight on the site in Crockenhill near Swanley in Kent.
I am proposing that we hold a street collection around Camberley (where I live) in July to raise funds for Second Chance to improve conditions for the animals there. John has been working very hard to improve living accommodation for the animals but there is still much to be done! The sanctuary is only about two years old and John has built it up from nothing, becoming a charity just over a year ago.
To give you an idea of the animals’ wish list: 15 much needed cat pens are going to cost £3,000, 100 rabbit hutches will be £4,800, solar heating panels for next winter will cost between £16,000 and £24,000 and more is needed for stabling etc. There is no electricity or gas on site so the solar panels are a must for keeping the animals warm during the colder months.
The council permit will be to collect in Camberley, Heatherside and Lightwater areas.

Check out the Second Chance website: http://secondchancecrockenh.wix.com/animal-rescue#!

Please, if you are free on Friday 19th or Saturday 20th July and can help for a couple of hours - do get in touch as I need others desperately to help me. I have 7 tins and awaiting some leaflets too.

On behalf of the animals - thank-you. Cathy

Ah I see now the message I had failed to notice, totally my mistake yesterday still thinking we would be meeting at the Atrium in Camberley, I apologise for thinking I'd not been told, and am so glad I made it there in the end despite my confusion. And what a good collection, just over £150 between the three of us for Second Chance in one day!

I still desperately need offers of help to make this street collection a success. I am very new to this area after moving up from Devon so, unfortunately, i have no other 'friends' to fall back on. Please come forward and help if you care about helping rescued animals. thanks.

Saturday would be great Carol. Let's set up a time and place in Camberley closer to the date. Many thanks for your offer of help.

Do you have an exact meet up point for Friday such as outside a particular landmark or building? I have never been to Camberley before. I would be aiming to get there between 10.30 and 11, I worked it out on Traveline, it is a bus and TWO trains to get there but may only take me less than 2 hrs!
My number is[masked], not sure if I have yours though. I am OK to stay maybe 3 to 4 hrs to collect.

OK did you look on that other meet up group?

I know this member is in your area, did you contact him, he is Frimley I think.

I think I did send him a message a while ago about your collection. Did you get more helpers or is it just me and you on Friday? My number is[masked] and I should be OK to do at least a couple of hours on Friday although this is an area I have not been to before (it all depend on public transport how long I have).

Yes that will be perfect Lesley - will you be driving over? As on the Friday I will be doing Heatherside (where I live) and Lightwater - both are very small local areas. Saturday I intend to do Camberley.

Oh no I have no idea where you got the idea from that I drive.. I am on public transport which is why it is a little tricky but I am going to try!

Cathy could you give me the postcode of where you are meeting so it makes it easier for me to check if this journey is doable for me? It is quite a long way but I would like to look into the possibility of coming to help.
