This time we welcome Mads Thrane, who is going to do a presentation about monitoring .NET applications. 😎 His own description of the presentation goes like this:
Knowing how your application is doing can be done in many ways. Logging from your application is a common thing and is a good start, but if you really want to know what your application is doing you also need to collect metrics.
Collecting metrics is easy but getting something useful out of them can be hard if you don't know what you are looking for.
In this talk I want to show you how metrics can be collected from your C# application. I will be using an ASP.NET Core application, logging metrics to Prometheus, displaying them in Grafana. I will show how I have used metrics to gain powerful insights into my application. I will try to give some examples where simple metrics has provided some very unexpected results and helped us recover from problems very quickly. I will try to show that collecting metrics is easy, and using simple metrics can be very powerful, and it might just save your bacon as it has saved mine.
Our host, Trifork, will provide something to eat and drink 😋
