APRL's First-Ever OC Fundraising Drive

Dear Friends:

As you may know, APRL’s Orange County chapter is staffed completely by volunteers and is totally dependent on donations for support.

This is the first fund-raising appeal we have ever made, and we hope you will consider giving something – no matter how small – so we can continue our important work as the leading animal advocacy organization in Orange County.  Donation information is at the end of this email.

In case you didn’t know it, our dedicated volunteers achieved many victories in the past year.  Among others, we:

  • Were instrumental in closing down two pet stores that sold animals from puppy mills: Russo’s at Irvine Spectrum and I Heart Puppies in Corona del Mar.
  • Helped secure bans on elephant rides at the Santa Ana Zoo and the Costa Mesa Fairgrounds.
  • Helped encourage a number of city councils to ban the sale of dogs and cats:

  1. Huntington Beach
  2. Laguna Woods
  3. Aliso Viejo
  4. Dana Point
  5. Irvine
  • Organized over 150 events during the year (about three per week), including lectures, protests, outreach events, book signings, movie screenings, and vegan cooking classes and food sampling opportunities.
  • Filed a lawsuit against South Coast Plaza, the second-largest and highest-grossing mall in the U.S., alleging that their rules for expressive activity are unlawful.  They’ve already changed their rules in response to the lawsuit, and we expect more improvement.
  • Organized the largest-ever Fur Free Friday protest in Orange County, with a 50-person march inside South Coast Plaza for two hours on Black Friday.
  • Organized and promoted the first-ever Orange County Veg Week and APRL’s first OC Earth Day celebration.
  • Handed out more than 15,000 vegan outreach pamphlets.
  • Handed out more than 5,000 pamphlets about puppy mills.
  • Launched a new website (

All this activity requires money for signage, pamphlets, website hosting, graphic design, Meetup fees, and other costs.  Because we have no paid staff and no overhead, 100% of your donation will go towards helping animals.

Would you please consider making a donation today?

There are two ways to help – you can join APRL as a member (membership is available at $36, $72, or $120 and includes a special gift at each level), or you can simply donate any amount you choose.  To become an APRL member, click here:  To donate at a different level, click here:
