What motivates you to learn Arabic?

I have one Arab friend that is living in Iraq and need to speak to him in his language, like to learn the culture and make new Arab Friends.

Which dialect(s) interest you? Are you also learning to read and write? (example: Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf, Tunisian) If you already speak Arabic, what dialect(s) do you know?

I'm new to the whole thing. Anything that I can start with would be nice.

What is your favourite word in Arabic?

Bosa (kiss). This came about when I was talking to a lady.
