During this event Erik Filsinger will be giving an overview of the climbing opportunities Tahquitz Rock, near Idyllwild, CA
Note: Meetup is only being used to announce this event. Be sure to follow the instructions below if you wish to participate in this virtual outing (read till the end to make sure you understand). There will NO other options for signing up or participating. Only direct email invitations from the presenter to the email address you give Erik will be used. The outing will be set to “waiting list” only. These procedures may be unique to this specific event and do not necessarily coincide with other AMC virtual event procedures.
Erik Filsinger will host a virtual outing via Zoom for this presentation. You will need to have or sign-up ahead of time for a free Zoom account of your own to participate. https://www.zoom.us/ . Erik will send you a link via your email address to the Zoom meeting as described below.
Tahquitz Rock was one of the original CA destinations for rock climbing. Many of the historical great rock climbers learned their trade there. Of special note are the long, many, many pitch trad climbs that attract rock climbers from all around the world.
The purpose of the virtual outing will be to give an overview of the nature of the climbing areas, their location, and their general approaches. While this information can be garnered from books or from friends, it is hard for a first-timer to gain that sense of where things are and what to look for. Hopefully this virtual outing will provide that preview so that you can maximize your climbing opportunities when you do visit.
The Meeting will be held Time: Tuesday, July 8 at 06:00 – 7:00 PM Arizona
If you want to “attend” this virtual outing, you MUST use the MeetUp messaging (PM) system to send the outing organizer (Erik Filsinger) your full name and email address. Do so again even if you have participated with him in the past. Erik won’t be looking anywhere else except at your responses to this outing when he compiles the invitation list. Erik will confirm receiving your information. If you do not hear back within a day or two please send your PM again. By 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, Erik will send the list of participants a direct email to the address provided with the link to the Zoom meeting. At or shortly before 6:00 p.m. sign-in via the link that he sends and you will enter a waiting room from which you will be admitted if you are on Erik’s list.
