• SRP Public Meeting on Rooftop Solar Taxes/Fines

    Glendale High School

Stop SRP from Fining Customers for Installing Solar Affordable solar power is putting individual Arizonans like you in charge of their utility bills and energy supply like never before. But now SRP, one of the state's largest utilities, is working to make solar a bad deal for its customers. We can't let SRP get away with this power grab. SRP has proposed slapping a hefty fee on customers that go solar. This 'solar tax' is a thinly-veiled attempt to protect the monopoly utility's business interests by limiting its customers' energy options. This unjustified fee would be unfair to the 12,000 families and businesses in SRP territory who have already gone solar. It would create new barriers for SRP customers who want to go solar in the future. And it would slam the brakes on individual investment in safe, secure, homegrown solar power that benefits us all. SRP should not be able to tell Arizonans what you can and can't do on your own roof. If you are an SRP customer, please sign our petition to speak up for your solar rights! (http://action.votesolar.org/page/m/2051fddc/56ee0db1/da562c5/4b869634/3414207209/VEsE/) Please post this information to your Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter social media networks and include hashtag #STOPsrpSolarTax. Onwards, Jessica + the Vote Solar team P.S. Want to do more? Show up in person for a public comment session and tell SRP their proposed rate amendments are bad for their customers, bad for solar, and bad for Arizona! • Go Solar in Arizona Economic Development Initiative Teleconference

    Location visible to members

You're invited to attend a teleconference to discuss the Go Solar in Arizona Economic Development Initiative that we have filed with the Arizona Secretary of State. We need your help to collect enough signatures to put this measure on the 2012 ballot. Read the R.W. Beck Report (http://files.meetup.com/1073632/RW-Beck-Report.pdf) to see how ratepayers could save $3 billion over the next 15 years with solar power. If 200 solar installation companies make a effort to collect 1,000 signatures we will have the suggested overage to get this measure on the 2012 ballot. That means we need your company to collect 100 signatures a month for the next 12 months. If passed, the initiative will create a $12,000 Arizona personal tax credit and an SREC trading system for the state of Arizona, which will be the equivalent of a $2.25 per watt solar rebate incentive. We are setting up signature collection tables at every Arizona Motor Vehicle Department location, shopping malls and every retirement community in Arizona. This is great way for your solar installation company to build community relations with families and senior citizens that are living on a tight budget and need a way to save money on their electric bills. There are approximately 837,354 senior citizens living in Arizona. All we need is 200,000 petition signatures to get this on the 2012 ballot. If your solar installation company helps families and senior citizens secure a $12,000 tax credit, they will most certainly want to do business with your company in the future. We would also like every solar installation company to carry a petition signature form with them to customer sales appointments. Anyone that can't afford solar should be asked to sign the Go Solar in Arizona initiative because it will increase the Arizona personal state tax credit from $1,000 to $12,000. Soon we will provide electronic files for a Go Solar in Arizona banner, a pamplet that details the approved Arizona signature collection procedure, a press release to market the solar signature collection events and a guide on how to make sure that every person that signs the petition is a registered Arizona voter. Help us, help your solar installation company and the rest of the solar industry. I will send a teleconference phone number and passcode to everyone that RSVPs yes. Here are several documents that you should read prior to the teleconference call: 1. • SRP Solar Incentive Meeting

    SRP Project Administration Building

SRP is holding a Board Meeting (http://www.srpnet.com/about/boardagenda/AgendaPage.aspx?DocID=125) to discuss what the SRP solar incentives should like for the rest of 2011. If you are happy working with $1 per watt do nothing. If you would like to see SRP raise the rebate back to $2 per watt, you need to show up at this Board Meeting and present a business case for why solar installation companies cannot survive at the solar rebates levels they plan to offer. If one solar installation company shows up asks for $2, it makes no impression. If 200 solar installation companies show up and present a business case for how many customers cannot afford to intall solar at anything below $2 per watt, it will make a big impression. RECAP: You need to show up and make public comments that SRP needs to dramatically increase their solar rebate back to $2 per-watt and increase last year's budget by $10-15 million to meet the demand from their ratepayers to install clean solar power. If you do not ask for it, they certainly will not give us what we need to stay in business. I will be attending a Energizer Solar Product Launch Media Event in the Grand Canyon, so I will not be able to make any public comments. Good luck!

The 9:00 a.m. workshop will cover what energy efficiency retrofits work best, how solar technology works, what rooftops are best, how much space is needed, how much it costs, what the return-on-investment is, and how to sign up for APS solar rebates and federal/state tax credits.
