PWYC Play - Regional Premiere! - by Author of 4000 Miles

Amy Herzog is one of the finest contemporary playwrights out there.  Anyone who saw her Pulitzer-Prize finalist play, 4000 Miles, at Studio Theater this year will attest to that.  I saw After the Revolution in New York a couple years ago and really enjoyed it.  We are finally getting a Washington production, and I think it's in good hands with Theater J.

This is a Pay What You Can performance. The box office opens at 6 for a 7:30 start time. We'll meet at 6:30 to socialize a bit before the play.  We can try to buy tickets as a group at that time, or you can just buy a ticket on your own.

Here's a description:

The brilliant, promising Emma Joseph is primed to follow in the footsteps of her progressive political family. But when she discovers a troubling secret about her blacklisted grandfather, Emma must confront her family’s legacy, and her own path.

A bold and moving play from Amy Herzog (The New York Times - Outstanding Playwright), staged by the director of Body Awareness and the recent benefit hit, Love, Loss, and What I Wore.

"America's most interesting young playwright." - The Wall Street Journal

Okay, we're all good. As I thought, they only sell half the tickets in their pre-show sale. So there are plenty remaining for you to purchase at the box office tomorrow. (They go on sale at 6.) Perhaps if you think you'll arrive pretty close to curtain time (7:30), you may want to buy online.

It's a great show and I hope everyone can make it! We'll socialize a little before in the lobby or steps there and can see if anyone is interested in a snack or drink after.

I just realized I looked at the wrong week, and can't go tomorrow. I've already bought a ticket - anyone want it? It's seat C-14.

Thanks Chris. Indeed when you go to their site, it lists about 50 available seats. What I don't know is if they have made all the seats available for this pre-show sale. Most theaters would hold back about half for the PWYC night-of sales. I will find out Monday morning and let everyone know. Meanwhile, if you are a definite and worried at all then go ahead and buy a ticket online. They start at $10 - all the seats are good. Here is the link:

Hit "Single Tickets" on the right and follow the process for Tuesday, Sept. 10. (You want "Main PWYC.") These have always been very simple evenings - sorry for this new complication.
