Thursday is shaping up to be one of our awesome Combo Nights! I'll actually start at about 5:30 at the spacious Kogod Courtyard in the Smithsonian American Art Museum between 7th and 9th st. for their monthly Take 5! Jazz concert. Tony Williams, the featured performer, has earned recognition as one of the most innovative drummers in history. Then at about 6:30 we'll head a couple blocks away to Longview, one of the coolest galleries in the city for their latest opening reception - J. Jordan Bruns exhibit called Light, Color, Chaos! (Check out the Facebook Page here (https://www.facebook.com/events/341002269391704/).) They actually use real wine glasses there. :-) Then at about 7:30 we'll walk about 7 blocks over to one of our favorite spots, the rooftop of the Beacon SkyBar for the Satin Doll Trio - an elegant ensemble that performs Jazz, Swing and Latin music as well as the intimate “supper club” jazz style.
You need to sign up for the free Beacon SkyBar event - go to Art Soiree's EventBrite link (https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sunset-rooftop-performance-series-w-satin-doll-trio-registration-12590942849).
There will be chances for food along the way, initially at the museum, and then at the SkyBar. Or we can also stop somewhere on the walk over. I made the gallery the meeting point because it's an easier time for most people, but you can meet us earlier at the museum or later at the Beacon. Hope you can join us!
