Reconstructing the trajectories of charged particles from detector measurements is an extremely challenging combinatorial problem in current and future high-energy particle physics experiments, and can become computationally prohibitive for classical computers.
Quantum algorithms have the potential to disrupt this field by dramatically reducing the time-to-solution or the amount of resources needed to perform a calculation.
This talk will present the quantum algorithms developed for LUXE, a new experiment in planning at DESY and the European XFEL in Hamburg which will study Quantum Electrodynamics at the strong-field frontier, and compare them with classical approaches.
