This group is open to professional artists, as well as students and beginner or "hobby" artists, who are serious about creating and refining their work.  Arts agents, collectors, critics, gallery owners, museum curators, teachers, and advocates are also welcome to attend with the goal of networking and supporting our member artists.  The emphasis is on the concepts, contexts, and world of Fine Art, but discussion may include the general creative arts.
The purpose of this group is to offer artists the opportunity for creative growth and support through constructive critiques, sharing knowledge and experience, discussing art theory and philosophy, and networking.  Group visits to art galleries, museums, and art exhibitions will offer further opportunities to gain inspiration, spark discussions about the world of art, and enhance our creativity and critical thinking skills.
Typically we will meet 1-2x per month in or around Traverse City.  Future meetups could take place at art galleries, museums, and exhibitions.  Possible themed meetups include, but are not limited to: - A "Wine & Art Night" at a local restaurant or winery - A "movie night" - attending a film screening with a post-film discussion - A hands-on art event to create collaborative work or community art - Outdoor meetups in warm, sunny weather - e.g. a picnic by a river, or hanging out on a boat
- An inspirational trip to a faraway land. The possibilities are as limitless as our creativity!
The only requirement is that you bring your wonderful creative self and a willingness to meet other artists.  It is more fun if you bring at least one of your artworks too.  A sketchbook and/or notebook is a great accessory for sharing your ideas and/or taking down notes.  Sketching / drawing / doodling during the meetup is welcome.
General meetups will include time for art sharing and critiquing:  Each member who wishes may share their art with the group and gain feedback.  Artwork may be old, new, or in progress.  Bring the original work or a photo/image reference.  Optional critiques will be conducted in a fun and relaxed manner that I hope will be a positive and rewarding experience for all.
