DESCRIPTION:Asheville Transplants\n**Looking for something fun to do on a Friday night and a chance to meet new people?**\n\nCome discover Asheville 's swing-dance scene with us!\n\n💃🕺 Asheville Swing Night happens on the second Friday of every month\, making it a great opportunity to try s omething new\, meet people\, and maybe even discover a new hobby you can e njoy regularly.\n\n🎶 Swing dancing has its roots in the jazz and swing era of the 1920s-40s\, and there's something pretty fun about learning the same dances people were doing nearly a century ago.\n\n✨ It's upbeat\, social\, and playful\, with plenty of partner changes\, spins\, and opport unities to meet new people. And you absolutely do **not** need to know wha t you're doing before you arrive!\n\nThe night starts at 7PM with a beginn er lesson designed for people who are brand new to swing dancing.\n\nYou'l l learn the basic footwork and a few moves to get you out on the dance flo or.\n\nMost people rotate partners during the lesson\, so there's no need to bring one\, and plenty of people come alone.\n\nThen at 8PM\, the lesso n wraps up and the DJ takes over for an evening of social dancing. 🎶\n\ n**What dance are we learning?**\nEast Coast Swing\, a style of swing danc ing that grew out of the swing era and is still danced all over the world today.\n\n**I've never danced before. Is that okay?**\nAbsolutely. The 7PM lesson is specifically designed for beginners. Just be sure to arrive on time! The lesson builds progressively\, so it's difficult to jump in late if you're brand new.\n\n**How many people will be there?**\nUsually around 50–70 people attend throughout the evening. Asheville Swing Night is op en to the public\, so it's much bigger than just our Meetup group.\n\n**Do I need a partner?**\nNope! Most people rotate partners during both the le sson and social dance\, and coming alone is completely normal.\n\n**What s hould I wear?**\nWhatever you're comfortable dancing in. You'll see everyt hing from flowy skirts and dresses\, jeans and T-shirts\, to vintage-inspi red outfits. Comfortable sneakers or leather-soled shoes work well\; heels aren't recommended.\n\n**Does our Meetup group hang out together all nigh t?**\nNot exactly. We'll meet up before the lesson\, but once it begins\, we join everyone else and rotate partners.\n\n**LOGISTICS**\n\n📍 **Haw Creek Commons**\nParking is onsite\, with overflow parking at Haw Creek El ementary. Just walk across the field to the venue.\n\n🚪 Doors open at 6 :45PM\n\n🕖 **7PM sharp** — Beginner swing dance lesson\n\n💃🕺 ** 8–10:30PM** — Social dancing with DJ\n\n💵 **$10** — includes the lesson + dance\nCash or Venmo at the door\n\n**More Info:**\nFacebook even t: [https://www.facebook.com/events/1127866173098723/](https://www.faceboo k.com/events/1127866173098723/)\n\nWebsite: [https://ashevilleswingnight.c om/](https://ashevilleswingnight.com/) URL;VALUE=URI:https://www.meetup.com/asheville-transplants-20s-50s/events/ 316934752/ STATUS:CONFIRMED CREATED:20261011T140551Z LAST-MODIFIED:20261011T140551Z CLASS:PUBLIC END:VEVENT X-ORIGINAL-URL:https://www.meetup.com/asheville-transplants-20s-50s/events /ical/ X-WR-CALNAME:Asheville Transplants END:VCALENDAR
