**********

The Linsanity film focuses on Jeremy Lin, tracing his life in Palo Alto, CA, through his college years at Harvard when he led the basketball team to championships, to his phenomenal rise with the New York Knicks. His underdog story transcends sports as it engages the audience in its portrayal of his struggles and his successes, his setbacks and his breakthrough in the NBA, while revealing his passion for basketball, eclipsed only by his love for God and his family, his willingness to work hard and persevere, and his identity grounded in his Christian faith as he handles his growing fame. By encompassing so many themes, this film appeals to a wide audience: Asian and non-Asian, avid basketball fans and casual fans, the young and old.

Historically speaking, Asians in America have not been given the proper respect in terms of culture and identity, thus the rise of negative stereotypes that stigmatize Asian Americans. When Jeremy Lin broke the NBA record for most points scored in the first five career starts and Linsanity erupted, he proved to the world that Asian Americans are more than what stereotypes say and that we can, in fact, fight through the barriers to achieve our greatest dreams.
