NYC ATHEISTS MARCH "LIVING WITH ATHEISM" - WEDNESDAY / MARCH 13TH / 7PM: Can an Atheist and a Non-Atheist Have a Happy Romantic Relationship?

Sent on: Friday, March 8, 2013 11:05 PM

SUBJECT: Can an Atheist and a Non-Atheist Have a Happy Romantic Relationship?

Sure, it could happen: a happy one-on-one romantic relationship between an Atheist and a religious person.  It could, but it doesn’t happen often anymore.

It used to be, not long ago, that the merger of a religious person with a nonbeliever was fairly common. Many of our parents were a couple in which one was religious, one not. (Usually it was the woman who was more religious.)

But these days, a belief-mixed couple seems to be rare. Modern day Atheists who look for romance on Internet match-up sites invariably look for other Atheists. What has happened to the mixed-belief couple? Have they gone the way of snail-mail or paper letters? What has been your experience in this realm? If a mixed-belief relationship didn’t work out for you, why not?  Or does love conquer all?

Come on Wednesday, March 13, to hear, in a warm, supportive atmosphere, the happy/unhappy experiences of your fellow Atheists on this topic.

This group is led by the insightful, always-on-your-side, private-practice therapist, Linda Blaikie, L.C.S.W.
