Title: Ghosts in the machine - the weird world of neutrinos Speaker: Vivek Jain, Assoc. Prof. of Physics, U Albany Abstract: Our universe is immersed in a sea of neutrinos - originating from stars, supernovae and the big bang itself - and these particles have intriguing properties, e.g., how one kind of neutrino transforms into another. Title: String theory and the dream of a "theory of everything" Abstract: Modern physics finds itself in a strange situation. We have two theories that work fantastically well (quantum physics, which describes the subatomic world, and Einstein's general relativity, which describes the motion of the cosmos), but that don't work together! String theory is the leading effort to bring everything together in a single theory. Bio: Dr. Daniel Robbins is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics at the University at Albany, and co-author of the book "String Theory for Dummies".

Let's celebrate our favorite evolutionist's birthday with drinks evolving into dinner at our favorite tavern! PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE RESCHEDULED THIS EVENT! Since we believe in Survival Of The Fittest, we will not risk our lives to celebrate Darwin - that would be just too ironic...
