Sit in with the Atheist Book Club!

Details

The Atheists of WNC invite you and your contacts to sit in and enjoy the Atheist Book Club. The first meeting is Wednesday July 9th at 6:30 p.m. at Standard Pizza on Biltmore Avenue in Asheville. (FYI they have a good menu and good reviews.)

Hang out with some nice people who are not religious. Chat about books on a variety of topics, such as Science, Religion, etc. You are not obligated to read the book, but if you can or can read a summary of it, you may enjoy the conversation more.

The first book is a popular and fun book about Science called The
Canon by Natalie Angier. It's very enoyable - almost conversational - look at what science is, the scientific method, with chapters about biology, astromony, geology etc. You can buy it new or used via Amazon; the library system has several copies too.

If possible, please read / look over just the first two chapters before this first meeting. (If most people haven't had the chance to read it, then the second meeting will be about the frist two chapters and the first meeting will be general discussion. Example: What books would you like to see the book club discuss in the future?)

Looking ahead, the group's organizer Kim would like the group to meet every two weeks, so the next meeting would be Wednesday July 23, at the same time and place. Come whenever you're available, even if you haven't read the book - the conversations will be interesting and great.
