Within the worlds of artificial intelligence and machine learning, deep learning is where a continual stream of the most exciting advancements are being made - it is amazing AI that works today.

The monthly Atlanta Deep Learning Meetup, in partnership with the Georgia Tech Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC) ( and other sponsors, has become the THE place in Atlanta to plug into the community surrounding this leading-edge data science technology. We welcome all participants, from deep learning experts to business people who are AI novices, and it's free to attend.

This month, Chris DeBellis presents:

Computer Vision is changing the world by powering many AI breakthroughs, including robotics and autonomous vehicles. Deep neural networks, specifically convolutional neural networks (CNNs), are transforming how computer vision is done. Come learn how CNNs work as we hand-code ResNet in Keras and Tensorflow using Python. ResNet and its many variants are a state-of-the-art CNN for image classification, and the basis upon which many other advanced algorithms, such as Faster RCNN and Mask RCNN, are built.

Chris DeBellis invites you to code along with him, as you learn about convolutions, stride, padding, pooling, and more advanced concepts - including bottleneck convolutions, identity blocks, and residual blocks. At the end, you will have a working classifier that can detect 1000 different object classes. Time permitting, he will also discuss MobileNet, a popular object classification CNN designed for mobile devices.
