This month Robert Bates will be giving a talk titled "Clex: Scaling Beyond the CPU"
Many language ecosystems have direct support for leveraging alternative processing resources (GPUs, FPGAs, ASICs, etc), yet the Elixir ecosystem to date has primarily relied on CPU cores for all parallelization strategies. With the recent emergence of systems like Annex and Hastega, Elixir is beginning to broaden its concurrency approach to these as-yet untapped resources. Clex is a package for leveraging OpenCL within an Elixir application to develop universal code that can take advantage of not only CPU but GPU resources for parallelization across multiple platforms.
This meetup centers around the Elixir programming language and is for anyone interested in discussing Elixir and related topics. It takes a broad approach, welcoming discussion and talks on Elixir, Erlang, Phoenix Framework, as well as other community packages and projects.
Food and drinks will be provided. Please let us know if you have an interest in presenting.
