They are reporting that the newer version is not compatible with legacy mode on. Happened to me this morning. Rename the directory as Rick suggest and the admin will work again.

I upgraded a Joomla[masked] site from Akeeba[masked] to 3.4 using Akeeba's built-in upgrade process just now without issue.  Hopefully your upgrade will go smoother this go around!  Otherwise it may be something specific to your Joomla environment.

It's a Joomla[masked] site.  I was upgrading from Akeeba 3.3.6 to 3.4 using the built-in upgrader..  Afterwards I could log into the site, but instead of seeing the admin console, I was just getting a server error.

I renamed the administrator/modules/mod_akadmin directory and I could then get to the console.

I uninstalled akeeba backup and everything seems fine.

I reinstalled Akeeba 3.3.6 and I'm backing up the site now.

Thanks,
Rick
