Custom SOAP based API for Joomla

I really need some assistance.

I took on a new client and they are requiring an api to be created and I'm not really sure how to create one. Does anyone have any references that are fairly simple to follow to create one that I can create and use in this site.

I've written a few xml files, but that was in asp not php.

Any help would be appreciated.

There are two default XML-RPC plugins: a Joomla one and a Blogger one. I have no idea how they work, but that would be a good place to start searching.

Yes, I have have tried that option too. It's a SOAP based API that has to be integrated into the site in order to be able to hit another sites content using the login information provided.
