Faster than C? Parsing Node.js Streams! by Felix Geisendoerfer

In collaboration with the HTML5 User Group (http://www.meetup.com/AtlantaHTML5/), we are excited to have Felix Geisendörfer from Germany present at this special meeting on:

Faster than C? Parsing Node.js Streams

Abstract:

In 2010 I wrote the first MySQL driver for node.js. I did it in pure JavaScript. It was fast. It was fun. A few month later, node addons using libmysql showed up in npm. They were much faster. It sucked. In 2012 I had enough and went back to to the drawing board resulting in a much faster parser. This talk will introduce you to the art of high performance work in JavaScript.

Speaker:

Felix Geisendörfer, is a programmer and entrepreneur living in Berlin, Germany. He was one of the first users and core contributors of node.js, and has used it to start a business, implement the MySQL wire protocol, and program flying robots. His latest passion is Go, which he is currently using to build new file uploading software at transloadit.

PS: There will be no meeting next week. This special meeting is our meeting for the month :-)
