Okay, here's an example of using Github's features. Now we need a volunteer to create
a branch and to merge it into our web site: https://github.com/atlrug/atlrug4.

What do you think?

Awesome, Al. I will have a look and help out as much as I can. Add me to the PT project, so I can be aware of the goals you are shooting for.

I agree with Mike. Keeping everything (Issues, Wiki, Docs) in Github helps. Git commits can close Issues in Github. The issues remain linked to commits and vice-versa and can be viewed easily. PT is nice but it is more suited for Project Management, which can be used for features, goals etc. Issues in Github also encourages contributors to view/submit patches for issues easily.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm definitely biased, but why not use Issues for discussions and a GitHub wiki or a directory full of markdown files (I usually do 'docs') instead of a Google Site and Google+?

Giveback/Web Site Update

  1. ATLRUG has a web site domain and it is http://www.atlrug.com
  2. The web site haves been updated and the code moved to the group repo https://github.com/atlrug/atlrug4. Pull requests/issues/bugs/comments/suggestions/etc are welcome and encouraged. Please go over and check it out.
  3. Web site open issues have been moved from Github to Pivotal Tracker (ATLRUG account/ATLRUG4 web site project). Contact me if you would like to be added to Pivotal Tracker project.
  4. The atlrug-website (Forum) Google Group will be deleted tomorrow (5/10/2013) because it is not being used. Probably will move to Google+.
  5. Just created a wiki (Google site) and will link to the web site in time. https://sites.google.com/site/atlantarubyusergroup (NO, atlrug was not available)
  6. Everyone is encouraged to go to free RHOK (Random Hacks of Kindness) on June 1-2, 2013.  Go to this web site to register: http://rhokatl-june-2013.eventbrite.com
    • If you interested in being a part of a RHOK Rails team (the default is to go as an individual and pick a project on the day of the event), please send me your name. I plan on have a pre-meeting a week before the event to identify candidate projects and identify any needed prep work.

Thanks,
Al Snow
