From here, follow the Viaduct Harbour’s edge westward, past bobbing yachts and sleek cafes, until you reach St. Mary’s Bay—a quiet inlet framed by pohutukawa trees and Victorian villas. The chill in the air sharpens the views across the Waitematā.
Continue beneath the Auckland Harbour Bridge, where the Westhaven Promenade boardwalk hugs the waterline. In winter, the light is crisp and the reflections vivid—perfect for photography or quiet contemplation. Watch for stingrays gliding below or sailboats slipping by.
Loop back along the Westhaven Marina, where the boardwalk leads you past moored vessels and city skyline views. The full circuit takes about 90 minutes at a relaxed pace, offering a refreshing blend of urban energy and coastal calm—even in the cooler months.
