Voice & Acapella Singing Workshop by Alex and Sonia SESSION 4

On April 16th Sonia Wilson and Alexandra Whitham teamed up to offer the first of a series of six Friday night workshops at Hypatia (Grafton). Alexandra is a full-time lecturer in Voice and Theatre for the Department of Performing & Screen Arts at Unitec. Sonia is a full-time musician, singer and music teacher.

You are welcome to join in for this session even if you missed the previous one(s).

This collaboration brings together Sonia's experience in Acapella singing, world music, sound healing and physical theatre with Alexandra's skillset in voice and speech for theatre and film, and the integration of voice and movement practices.

On the theme of "Listening Without and Within" the aim of this beginner-friendly workshop series will be to introduce students to new tools for accessing their own creativity, increasing self-confidence, listening and expressing, improving vocal agility, learning to improvise and telling stories with body, voice and/or song.

Through a guided process of creative group devising, participants will be encouraged to strengthen their physical and spatial awareness and connection, as well as learning about the voice, singing, world music and harmony.

Dates of the workshops in this 6 workshop series:
Fridays from 7 to 8.30pm on April 16, 23, 30 & May 14, 21 and 28th.

Open to students at every level.

Places are limited to 25 and will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis to successful applicants.

A minimum of 5 participants is required for each session to be confirmed

Cost for participants: $40/session or $30/session for those attending 3 or more of the 6 sessions.
