Re: [austin-contemporary-fiction-bookclub] Peter's Group Books and Venue for 2014

I could not find the list of books.

When will the change of venue take place?

You may recall that we decided to change our method of book selection for 2014. A number of you have nominated books for us to choose from and I have posted all of these (25 of them) in the Poll section of this website. As each poll only allows for twelve nomination I've divided the books over three separate polls (1,2 & 3). You have until January 29th to cast your votes and I would urge all those who plan to attend to make sure you have your say in our selections by voting.

I'm sorry that the website has not proved sufficiently user-friendly to allow me to post all the details of each book in one place (or perhaps I'm just not tech-savvy enough!) so I will be posting details of each book individually over the next few days. I would strongly recommend that you wait until you've had the opportunity to review each book properly before casting your vote. Some of my favorites are by authors that I had not previously read and, in some cases, of whom I had never heard.

You will all be aware that we have had to seek a new venue because of changes at Cafe Express. For my own part of the meet up group, I have chosen the Austin Java location at Barton Springs Road. I have checked it out and they very much meet all our criteria: a private room, a good selection of food and drink at reasonable prices and free parking. The management also was very accommodating. A bottle of champagne goes to Leslie for suggesting it!

I appreciate that this is somewhat south of our previous venue and may be more difficult for some of you to get to. My apologies to you for the inconvenience and I do promise that I will listen to any comments that any of you may have on this and we will monitor the situation over the next few months.

Christine will be advising you all separately of book nominations and venue for her group and it may well be that she chooses a different venue. She is currently checking out some venues nearer to our old venue than the Austin Java.

I would like to thank you for all your support during 2013 and wish you all a wonderful 2014!
