December 11: The Unreal Gameplay Ability System

Ben Howenstein will discuss the Unreal Engine Gameplay Ability System (GAS), including production examples.

After a brief high-level overview of the system and its core concepts, the focus of Ben's talk will be on challenges his studio has encountered (and solved) while building their unique gameplay systems around GAS. The goal of the talk is to save fellow developers some time (and maybe headaches) with their shared experiences.

About Ben Howenstein:Ben Howenstein is an experienced gameplay engineer with more than a decade of experience, with key contributions to games including the modern Prey franchise, Darksiders: Genesis, Weird West, and multiple unannounced titles. Currently, Ben is working as a senior gameplay engineer at WolfEye Studios.
