The Band and the dancers were quite good. The poetry and toasts were not as robust as in years past.

Kirk - thanks for all your help. We now have 11. You need to join us - make it an even dozen.

Julie - if they do it the same way as last year, you will choose your dinner from 2-3 options right around 5, so have Craig or somebody else order for you and save a seat as it will be difficult to find one arriving late. Choices will be standards like fish 'n chips, shepherd's pie, etc. Haggis is served buffet style after the main course and presentation, toasts, etc.

I wouldn't worry about dress code. There will be plenty of people wearing kilts, tartan and all that, but just as many wearing regular clothes.

      Great, thanks!

I went to Sherlock's today. It looked like their tables seat about 6. They do not take reservations, so I will be there before 4:30 and will grab some tables and look for the best arrangement for us. The person I spoke to expected it to be sold out. I will be wearing my Craig tartan Kilt (grey and green) and a black jacket and will try to have a sign. So far our count is 9.

It appears there are still tickets available for the Burns Supper. Our count is currently 8 with 3 days to go. I plan to go to Sherlock's Saturday to see how things will be set up. Then I can snag the best tables for Sunday. Keep me posted if you are coming.

For those who have never been to a Burns Night event - they are a lot of fun. The Silver Thistle Pipes and Drums will be there in addition to the Hill Country Highland Dancers. There is a formal presentation of the Haggis with bagpipes and speeches - a bit of Burns humor. And, yes there is more to eat than haggis.

My wife and I have tickets and I will get there early to arrange for a table. Please let me know if you are coming so I can save seats for you. Last year there were 3 Burns Suppers in Austin, this year only one, so I expect it to sell out.

I am undecided as of right now. I went to this last year at Sherlock's and very much enjoyed the evening, and would highly recommend going. If you wish to meet up with others from the group, make sure you get there early (4:30 at the very latest) to try and get a table together. Sherlock's would not reserve tables for me last year, and when I got there at 10 till 5, all the tables were already full.

So far, this is the only one of these events planned for Austin.
