Hi Carrie,

We want this "Course" , location and time , to be a full group ordination/agreement.
Thank you for offering the location. Could you please post the address so we can also have discussions on that. I tried to research on your signature website, however, I don't want to assume.

Thanks

Sincerely,

Wilson Bradley

Hey guys, I'm down to run an informal, unofficial meetup to learn Python in 2 or 3 weeks. I need help securing a room for the meeting, with internet good for many people and a projector or screens to display examples. Historically, the meetup occurs on Mondays, but I'm ok with other days as well. I want the meeting to be more hands-on, which is why we need good internet.

To respect the true organizers, and the way previous meetups were formatted, this meeting won't follow a book closely, but we can talk about topics in the books. My plan is to do an install party of Python, and then after, we will go through a piece of code that I picked out, line-by-line if we have to. After that, we will talk more about Python or go through more code examples. There might be homework for you guys :)

Lastly, even though I have experience with Python, I'm learning along with you guys, so forgive me if you end up stumping me, and I have to consult a search engine. I've heard and read that teaching is a great way to learn and master a subject, so that is why I'm teaching you guys.

Hi Greg, final warning: we really need you to comment about your plans for the Python Learning Meetup. If you don't do so by morning Wednesday, I'll have to organize a February meeting myself.

Hi Greg, I don't know if you noticed, but there's a lot of interest in a beginner-level Python meetup for February, so I might just hold an informal one sometime in February if you don't mind. In case you haven't been receiving the messages, they are below.

Hi all, I'm new to this thread and I guess by nature of joining the meetup group I'm included here.

I am curious if I could present a project I'm involved with, which is using Python. It's an alternative currency called openCurrents where anyone can "mine" by donating their time to a social business or organization. When the org approves the hours worked, hours become public data and volunteers earn 1 Current for each hour given. It's also community-led: we had our kickoff meeting last week and reached 2 unanimous votes.

The code is pretty basic, as we are still in early stages, but I figured this would be something the group might like to know about. Are you meeting Feb 8? I see it listed on Meetup but from this conversation it seems undecided. I think you guys should just do it with whoever wants to be there.

Let me know what you think.

Danny

I see 2 different meetings under discussion:
1. A review of what's new in 3.6
2. A beginner's lecture based on a particular book about learning Python.

We should treat them to their own discussions, since they're for different audiences.

I also saw someone say that the organizers of this meetup will spend February planning new meetings? That seems silly. Let's do something now. This email thread alone has been dragging on for weeks.

David
