Senior Developer Position for Austin Startup

Aunt Bertha picks up where Uncle Sam leaves off by making it easy to find and apply for food, health, housing and education programs (

We're looking for an experienced programmer (1-4 years) for a contract to hire Senior Developer position. Location is in Austin (required). Desired skills (in order of importance):
• Still naïve enough to want to change the world;
• Want to work for a startup;
• Strong Javascript / jQuery;
• Strong design aesthetic;
• Strong object-oriented design methodology;
• Working knowledge of Python;
• Working knowledge of Google App Engine;

We are a 5-person startup hiring our first developer (our founder is moving to sales). We built a simple way to find and apply for social services. We're passionate. We work all the time. We believe in this stuff. We're having the time of our lives.

• Featured in Mashable, Austin-American Statesman, Texas Co-Op Power;
• Winner of the RISE 2011 Royito's Don't Do Mild Award;
• 2012 Unreasonable Institute Company;
• 2012 Code for America Civic Accelerator Company

You've worked in corporate America and you've already made the decision that you want to do something meaningful. When you finish a job you don't take a break; you ask, "What can I do next?" Then you do it. Money is not the first thing you think about in a job (we pay, but not as much as you're probably making now). You want to build a company with a great team (we give equity). One of your favorite quotes is: "It's better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission." At the end of the day you want to have that feeling that you did something important.

If you join our team, you will get that feeling every night.
