Collaboration tools: challenges and opportunities

When Jonathan Berger from Pivotal said he's in town for Future of Web Design and up for a meetup, I couldn't resist. It's short notice, but if you are - like me - nerdy about how the tools we use (think physical boards, Jira, Pivotal Tracker, your own hacks, etc), this event is for you.

Format of the night:
1) Talks
2) Group activity
3) Pub

TALKS

Jonathan Berger (http://www.jonathanpberger.com/) is interested in people and technology and how they relate to each other. Jonathan is a UX unicorn at Pivotal Labs, and also runs Market Publique, an online vintage marketplace. In this short talk, he will share how the multi-disciplinary team at Pivotal collaborates and how UX is integrated into the teams.

David Gildeh was formerly Founder & CEO of SambaStream, before being acquired by Alfresco, the worlds second largest open-source software company specialising in Document Management and Online Collaboration. David now works as Director of Cloud services overseeing the launch of Alfresco's new Cloud Service, and will share how their growing, distributed team collaborate, reflect on their workflow, and how using Jira as a tool is working out for them.

DISCUSSION

After the talks, we'll break into smaller groups, to share learning from our own processes, challenges, experiences. Get insights from peers. Draw your Kanban or Scrum board. Discuss the relationship of good process and tools.
Jonathan and I will give you some pointers. If you don't work in a context that gives you something to share and are just curious to hear from others, don't worry, come along.
We'll finish the evening by sharing within the whole group before wrapping up and going for a drink.

WHEN & WHERE

Pancentric Digital, at emerson studios, 4-8 Emerson Street, just off Southwark Bridge Road/behind the Tate Modern, with the closest tube station being London Bridge.
Doors open at 6:30pm, and we'll kick off at 7pm.

If you want to stick around for drinks, we'll head to the Swan at the Globe.

SPONSOR LOVE

Thanks to Travis McBride and Pancentric Digital for hosting us.

Thanks to the fabulous folks at Pivotal Labs, there will be drinks and some food (and some swag) to keep you going (and stylish!).

    Hi Alison,

I've posted my slides from the event here which has our tools listed on one of the slides:

We have the same issue and use Jira to manage the PM process

Hi, i couldnt make the event so i wondered if anyone was going to write anything off the back of this meetup or do anything like share a list of preferrred tools? Am particularly interested in recommendations for tools for teams that are not co-located.

    Thanks!

Well done Johanna for making this happen at such short notice - Jonathan was great, and the conversations that followed were really thought-provoking. Nice to be in such a diverse group too.

I would have love to have the speakers mention other tools they use in their Agile process besides the 2 that were mentioned.
