Please note that the RSVP for this Meetup should be marked on the below Google form and will be closed in this URL. This is for better logistics. ======================================== https://forms.gle/r37m5wYPemGW8i7M9 ======================================== INTRODUCTION =============== The value of AWS cloud is in its elasticity and on-demand nature, which frees up developers and IT to instantly gain access to resources to solve business problems. Amazon EC2 Spot Instances offer spare compute capacity available in the AWS cloud at steep discounts compared to On-Demand instances. Spot Instances enable you to optimize your costs on the AWS cloud and scale your application's throughput up to 10X for the same budget. This is an invite for a half a day; technical workshop for customers who want to learn about AWS EC2 Spot as a consumption model. The goals of this technical training is to equip you with the best practices and recommendations for using EC2 Spot across different workloads and balance your compute capacity between the different consumption models in AWS cloud. WHAT YOU WILL LEARN ======================= 1. EC2 Spot - Basics 2. EC2 Spot – Pricing model 3. EC2 Spot ready Workloads and AWS Managed Services 4. EC2 Spot Diversification Best Practices 5. Handling Spot Instance Interruptions 6. EC2 Spot Orchestration options - Spotfleet & Auto Scaling Groups (ASG) with EC2 Fleet 7. Demo - Spotfleet and ASG 8. Deploying specific Workloads on EC2 Spot instances (eg. Containers, Data Anaytics, ML, Web Services, etc) Please note that the RSVP for this Meetup should be marked on the below Google form and will be closed in this URL. - Virtual Meetup - w/ Alex Smola on ComputerVision - Zero to Hero in 3 hrs
Details Please note that this is a virtual event which AWS UG Kochi is conducting with the help of AWS UG Bangalore. All you need to have is an internet connection to watch the Live Streaming. We will share the URL here as well as in the WhatsApp group. In case you haven't joined our WhatsApp group, please use the link - https://chat.whatsapp.com/GXnzQEZaVvJ1OtgNXd7vDU We're super excited to host our May 2019 meetup with a star speaker Alex Smola - VP & Distinguished Scientist at AWS (https://alex.smola.org/). He's also one of the world's leading ML scientist. Agenda 09:30 AM to 01:00 PM: Meetup/Workshop (URL will be shared by 9:30) About the Meetup / Author / Topic Computer vision is one of the key applications of deep learning. Object recognition, detection, segmentation, and pose estimation are by now staples of modeling with deep networks. In this tutorials I will give a brief introduction to MXNet Gluon. This is followed by an in-depth discussion of modern convolutional networks, including ResNet, ResNext and SENet. We will cover models for detection such as YOLO and SSD. This is followed by image segmentation (e.g. via MaskRCNN) and semantic segmentation. We conclude by reviewing the problem of pose estimation and a review of content available at D2L.ai, a novel open source textbook on deep learning, based on Jupyter notebooks, that is fully executable by its readers. The tutorial will consist of slides, Jupyter notebooks and a live demo of associated models. Unit 1 - Introduction to MXNet Gluon (tensors, Autograd, devices, basic training) Unit 2 - Modern convolutional neural networks (ResNet, ResNext, SENet) Unit 3 - Object detection (YOLO / SSD) Unit 4 - Image Segmentation (Mask RCNN) Unit 5 - Pose Estimation Unit 6 - Dive into Deep Learning (D2L.ai) About the speaker: Alex is Vice President of Science and Distinguished Scientist at AWS. Alex is recognized as one of the world’s top machine learning experts. He comes to AWS after helping grow the widely respected machine learning department at Carnegie Mellon, where he still holds a professorship. Alex is a prolific and widely cited author within the academic research community, writing or contributing to 462 titles with 75,000+ citations (https://scholar.google.com/citations?user=Tb0ZrYwAAAAJ) https://aws.amazon.com/blogs/machine-learning/in-the-research-spotlight-alex-smola/

- AWS Hackathon for Good
Register yourself at https://kochi-hackathon.eventbrite.com/ . Don't use this to RSVP the hackathon. There will be separate event for Reinvent Recap RSVP. This is a hackathon to inspire you to develop solutions that will bring lasting change. There are a lot of seemingly insurmountable problems in society today. For example: bad roads, air and noise pollution, corruption in government, income disparity, outdated methods of education, unequal access to resources, reduced opportunities for women, etc. It is not easy for an individual or organization to fully solve any of these problems on their own. But each of us can make a small contribution to the complete solution. Is there a problem you are passionate about tackling with technology? Then this hackathon is a place where you can find like minded engineers and programmers to team up with and create new solutions. re:Invent recap At the same time we will also have the Kochi Edition of re:Invent recap at the same location. Start early! If you already have an idea or a team and want to get started immediately, you can do so. The project does not have to start on Jan 5. You can start now. Register yourself at https://kochi-hackathon.eventbrite.com/ . You have to BYOL, Free WIFI will be available at the venue. Don't use this to RSVP the hackathon. There will be separate event for Reinvent Recap RSVP.
