2013 Doors Open Denver - Downtown Denver

  • Apr 14, 2013 · 10:00 AM
  • This location is shown only to members

The theme of the Doors Open Denver 2013 is Denver the City Beautiful!  Let's celebrate with a free, city-wide annual event that opens doors to Denver’s exceptional built environment.  DOD 2013 brings you into buildings and neighborhoods that are “uniquely Denver” to raise your awareness and excitement about great design.  The weekend is all part of Architecture Month in Denver welcoming a diverse audience into distinctive examples of architecture, engineering and design, both historic and modern.

Meet the Group at 10am at the Event Headquaters located at the McNichols Building (corner of W Colfax and Bannock).  We will visit various historic sites constructed between the years 1883 and 1937.  The self-guided walking tour will begin and end near the McNichols Building with lunch in between at a downtown restaurant.  We will walk at a moderate pace and spend 15-20 minutes at each site in the following order:

1.  McNichols Building (Event Headquarters)

2.  Civic Center Park (Greek Theater, Vorheese Memorial, Broadway Terrace/Esplanade)

3.  Byers-Evans House Museum

4.  Hogle-Allison Motors/Colorado Ballet Academy

Lunch at City O' City 11:30-1pm

5.  Denver Women's Press Club - The Burr House

6.  First Baptist Church

7.  First Church of Christ, Scientist

8.  Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

Note:  Meter parking is free on Sunday's in Downtown Denver.

Optional Lunch after #4 at City O' City located at 206 E. 13th Avenue, Denver, CO, [masked].  We have a reservation for 20 at 11:30am.  After lunch, we'll continue the walking tour.  See the menu http://www.cityocitydenver.com/lunch_and_dinner

***Doors Open Denver involves a lot of walking so be prepared with good walking shoes, water and snacks, plus any thing else you need to make this an enjoyable walk.***

See you there!

Sorry for the confusion let's meet at 10 a.m.. that should be enough time to meet and gather at the headquarters and then spend 15 or so minutes at each location before lunch.

"involves a lot of walking so be prepared with good walking shoes"

This is important advice boomers! Several years ago I spent the whole day doing this event - walking on pavement all day - and came down with a long lasting painful injury (plantar fasciitis).
